Cosmetic pedicure or podiatrist?

Pedicure and podiatry sound alike, but they are two different professions. Here is how to tell which treatment you need.

Cosmetic pedicure and gentle foot care

Cosmetic pedicure

A cosmetic pedicure is beauty and wellbeing care for healthy feet: a foot soak, trimming and shaping nails, cuticle care, gently smoothing hard skin, moisturising and, if you like, regular polish, gel polish or Shellac. This is what Komo Beauty offers.

Podiatry

Podiatrists are medically trained professionals. They treat things like ingrown nails, corns, fungal infections, pressure points and the feet of people with diabetes or circulation problems.

When to see a podiatrist instead

See a podiatrist or your doctor if:

  • you have diabetes, circulation or blood clotting problems;
  • a nail is ingrown or inflamed;
  • you have pain, open wounds or suspect a fungal infection.

For everyone else: time for yourself

For well-kept, pretty feet, a cosmetic pedicure is ideal — before summer, before a celebration or simply as a treat. At Komo Beauty in Ebikon, every day including Sundays, or as a home visit.

In
short.

Is the pedicure at Komo Beauty medical?

No. Komo Beauty offers cosmetic pedicures, not medical podiatry. For medical foot problems, please see a podiatrist or your doctor.

How often should you get a pedicure?

Many people have one every four to six weeks. It depends on nail growth and how quickly hard skin builds up.

Can I have gel polish on my toes?

Yes, toenails can be finished with regular polish, gel polish or Shellac.
